Theranostics, a major innovation in biotherapy monitoring
Currently, 70% of new medications are biotherapies and it is crucial to determine precisely and objectively the patient response to a treatment. Beyond simple diagnostics, theranostics is intended to provide clinicians the tools to implement a treatment customized for each patient while controlling the efficacy of the treatment by anticipating therapeutic escape and other secondary effects inherent in these biotherapies.
Theranostics tests represent a new approach for monitoring these biotherapies, and a significant advance in the development of an individualized and responsible treatment.
Bringing automation and reliability to autoimmune testing, Phadia®, now Thermo Scientific, offers high quality blood tests for the detection of disease-specific autoantibodies. Thermo Scientific Phadia’s autoimmunity tests allow identification of pathogenic autoantibodies already in the early stages of the disease. Approximately 20 fully automated EliA and 30 Varelisa (EIA) tests are currently available and the number of new tests is steadily increasing. These tests detect autoantibodies for a variety of autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue diseases, celiac disease and others. In addition to the high number of autoimmunity tests, Thermo Scientific Phadia offers reliable and fully automated instruments to ensure delivery of accurate and reproducible test results.
Using Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay (FEIA) technology, EliA autoimmune tests and the Phadia® 100 & Phadia® 250 instruments offer a new fully automated approach to the measurement of autoantibodies. Laboratories will now receive rapid turnaround of results, process efficiencies and cost savings.
Immuno Concepts was founded in 1979 with a commitment to advance the quality of diagnostic assays for systemic rheumatic diseases. Over thirty years later they continue to honor that commitment. In 1979 Immuno Concepts pioneered the conversion from rodent tissue to HEp-2 cells for detection of anti-nuclear antibodies (ANAs). Using genetic engineering Immuno Concepts developed HEp-2000®, an ANA substrate with increased sensitivity for detection of autoantibodies to SS-A/Ro. Immuno Concepts was the first company to offer a non-fluorescent ANA. Their Colorzyme® methodology uses a patented stabilized color reagent system that allows slide-based assays to be read using common bright field microscopy. From the beginning Immuno Concepts has been committed to education. Each year they offer workshops to educate clinicians and laboratorians on the valuable information that can be gained from the proper use of ANA screening and related testing. Immuno Concepts offers self-help training in the form of their Visions II and III Training Series, pattern atlases, and pocket guides.
Immuno Concepts makes a variety of products to assist in the serological diagnosis of Systemic Rheumatic Disease.
