We have 70 employees in total, 30 work in the Edmonton office and the remaining staff work remotely across Canada. The Position:

Somagen’s Territory Manager is the core member of the Sales and Support Team at Somagen, responsible for promotion and support of our entire portfolio of products in East and Northeast region of Quebec as well as Montérégie, Estrie, Centre du Québec and Mauricie (subject to change). Anticipated travel is approximately 40%. You will report directly to the Regional Manager.

The Role:

The Territory Manager position offers a unique opportunity to promote and manage a growing portfolio of products and to work closely with others from our Sales and Product Support Team to drive sales and increase market share. As a key member of the Sales Team the Territory Manager will be responsible for increasing sales of all products to all Laboratory disciplines while maximizing margin contribution in a dynamic and challenging sales environment. The Territory Manager brings a strong sales acumen, leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with others in our organization while contributing to a culture of success and goal achievement.

Key Responsibilities

The scope of responsibilities is generally listed as, although not limited to, the following:

  • Professionally represent Somagen Diagnostics to our customers, suppliers and within the industry as a whole, with peers, competitors and industry representatives.
  • Attain sales performance in line with defined territory targets.
  • Create, identify and manage sales opportunities within territory.
  • Accelerate growth in territory by understanding drivers within a territory and by developing and proposing integrated solutions specific to customer needs.
  • Responsible for account contract management and renewals.
  • Responsible for completion of all RFP’s and RFI’s.
  • Coordinate involvement and participation of internal resources such as Product Specialists, Applications Specialists and Service Engineers when needed to move the sales process forward.
  • Occasionally work with our Supplier representatives when requested.
  • Contribute to the establishment of price guidelines for territory which are in line with overall company objectives and detailed annual plans.
  • Promote all assigned product lines in accordance with overall corporate objectives, define specific targets and create custom programs as required.
  • Ability to address customer objections and offer unique arguments to overcome sales obstacles.
  • Gather competitive information and market intelligence on a regular and routine basis.
  • Maximize sales volume and margin contribution on sales for all products in your entire product portfolio by working with Product Specialists, Contracts Administrators and the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Contribute to the development of educational marketing initiatives that promote and grow product awareness specifically within the territory.
  • Complete all internal reporting and forecasting responsibilities promptly and completely as required.
  • Manage expense budgets responsibly

 

The Candidate:

The successful individual will possess the following characteristics:

  • Bilingual (French and English), mature, experienced and motivated sales professional with a proven record of sales success.
  • 5+ years professional sales experience in the diagnostic or related medical device industry.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc), formal training in a Medical Laboratory Science program or equivalent relevant experience and background.
  • Sales experience in the Quebec healthcare environment, with preference for diagnostic field.
  • Proven history of sales success with an ability to influence change in a complex selling environment
  • Full understanding of the Canadian healthcare purchasing structure and economy. Proven ability to promote products at all levels of the selling algorithm and ability to understand the needs of all stakeholders and propose valid solutions. 
  • Related experience and comprehensive training/education in all Laboratory disciplines with the ability to work closely with all Laboratory professionals including Clinical Laboratory Technologists, Managers and Directors, Administrators, Pathologists, Chemists, Hematopathologists, Microbiologists and Immunologists.
  • An individual who is dedicated to self improvement whether that be sales and/or product related knowledge in nature
  • Demonstrates a positive corporate culture and team spirit through their natural leadership ability.
  • Possesses above average interpersonal and communication skills together with attention to detail with both customers and Somagen colleagues
  • A self starter who demonstrates a bias for action and is comfortable operating without supervision, manages daily priorities in a timely manner while simultaneously moving longer-term business opportunities forward.
  • Maintaining a healthy sales funnel with balance between short and long-term opportunities
